He's away right now, studying the Bible. What a gift it is to encourage one another with God's Word and because of God's Word! He was telling me what he's learning, how it's changing him, and I got to do the same. It was a reminder of a couple things: God answers prayer and His Word truly is like light, nourishment, and water. We pray for our kids and sometimes get to see what God's doing and sometimes we have to use our eyes of faith. That conversation was a moment where I got to see God answering prayers I have prayed. And as we talked, I was reminded again of what happens when we give ourselves to knowing God through His Word. His Word truly illuminates, fills us up, and waters our arid souls. I'm watching that happen to him, and sharing together the treasures and goodness of God was a little oasis for the both of us. Who could you call or invite to coffee or lunch to share together what God is doing in your lives and be encouraged and built up? What's keeping you from doing that? Let's pray for one another to follow God's leading to encourage and build one another up as we read in 1 Thess 5:11. These days we live in get dark and heavy sometimes. We need the light, nourishment, and water God provides for us. Discipleship Pathway starts next week. I know it's hard to give up your favorite gathering to attend a different one. But what if that's the move that will open up something new for you? I did that once and found a new friend. I attended a class during the middle service and met a Bible teacher, whom I just would not have met any other way. And let me tell you, I was the better for it! He was a gift, and that class was all the things I just mentioned above. If you have had any stirrings to try a Sunday or Wednesday class, maybe the Shepherd is showing you some pastures that will be really good for you. I will be praying for us to follow Him there.
